Why Choose TransTape?

Writer: Jamie BlumJamie Blum

It's no secret that there are similar products and brands out there to meet your gender affirming needs, but why choose TransTape? There are many reasons why I think you should, but let's discuss and you can decide for yourself!

Hello, friends!

How are we feeling this fine Spring day? (I don't know what day it is right now, but I hope it's sunny when you're reading this)

We've talked a lot about TransTape the product, what it has the potential to do for its users and the gender euphoria so many people have gotten from this amazing product.

But today, we're talking more about this amazing company and why it might be the right choice for you.

For example, did you know this company was founded by a transgender man named Kaiyote Jackson (center in the photo)?

He didn't just start the company, he created the product too! You're also very welcome for the new trivia knowledge.

That's not the only reason why TransTape is so wonderful, though. TransTape gives back in many ways. We might not hit on every single way TransTape gives back, because wow there are so many ways, but we're definitely going to dig in.

Artist merchandise program, top surgery fund recipients, grand giveaway contests, remote modeling program, bi-weekly giveaways, donations to organizations, the list keeps going!

So, Why TransTape?

Created for YOU

In my personal opinion, one of the coolest things about TransTape is how it can blend in with your skin and be almost, sometimes completely, unnoticeable. A lot of people don't even take the time to notice! Strangers don't pay super close attention to strangers like we often think they do, but that doesn't mean it isn't still a massive relief when it blends in. That's why TransTape offers a variety of tones and colors!

Skin tones 001 to 004, black, white, pink, purple, blue, green AND inked in every tone.

My favorites are black and inked, in case you were wondering.

But before the customized tones 001 to 004 came around, there once was a time where there were non-customized tones. I don't remember the exact names of those old tones, but who cares? They're in the past and we got bigger and better things now!

And did I just say customized? Yes!

When it comes to skin tones, many companies only offer the default, pre-made tones and those are usually something along the lines of light, medium and dark. There's nothing inherently wrong with those options and I'm not shaming anyone who prefers them or opts to use them, but they aren't usually the most accurate representations of the real skin tones of real people.

And, well, there are a lot of us real people running around this planet after all.

So TransTape went the extra mile and opted to create their own skin tones in order to offer their customers with the most accurate representation possible.

Gender and identity affirming angels are working for TransTape, didn't you know?

Creating a skin tone is no easy task, either.

You can't just walk down the street to the skin tone store and pick your favorites, blasphemy right?

Creating a skin tone requires trial runs, countless samples and most of all, patience. This process can take up to a year, and even longer!

The new tone suppliers even traveled internationally to meet with the team to ensure the tone was exactly what they were looking for! I'm telling you, TransTape takes this seriously.

Sample after sample, color layering after color layering, the new tones were born and became available to order for everyone.

Inclusive Sizing

Over time, there were just a few requests for a larger size tape. And in most cases, it was requested by users who require a little more skin to be covered than the original LG size allows. Like I've said in the past, everybody is different and that's a beautiful thing.

So after getting plenty of requests for a larger size, TransTape listened to their consumers and delivered!

Instead of only offering the SM (3in), MD (4in) and LG (5in), there will now be an XL (7in) roll offered in all skin tones.

WOOOOOOOOO!

What exactly makes a larger size beneficial and exciting, though?

Thank you so much for asking.

  1. Chest Binding

This could mean using fewer strips of tape.

I know we all love to save some tape during application, myself included.

And if you're someone who has a larger chest and has struggled with TransTape in the past, this could be your sign to give it another try!

And don't be afraid to reach out to the help-desk through the chat option on the website for some application assistance!

Having that additional 2 inches in width could completely change the way you tape!

And possibly change the way you feel while taped!

Maybe you're someone who has been using two strips of tape on each side for a while and you want to give the one strip technique a try. Or, maybe you just want to feel more secure and covered while taping. Either way, there's no wrong reason to give it a try, use whatever size you want for whatever reason!

I personally find the new XL size super exciting because there are many people who have been hesitant that are going to feel more confident about giving TransTape a try now. If you've ever thought to yourself that you were, "too big," to try TransTape, give it another thought and maybe another chance! TransTape is for everyone.

Having an XL size roll will allow people to explore more ways of taping and hopefully find some gender euphoria in the process.

How amazing!

I love TransTape.

  1. Packing

The XL size for binding is already a massive plus, but the packing and tucking benefits are just as fantastic.

If you pack with TransTape, you already know the process can be like an arts and crafts project.

And I mean that in the most loving way, I enjoy packing with TransTape!

Depending on your packing pecker of choice, you may have some issues with the tape keeping the packer secured to your skin.

Some John's are just a little too big, you know?

For example, I have an STP (stand to pee) with a lot of prosthetic material at the top so it blends and contours better with my body. This makes the packer a decent bit heavier than some, but also a lot harder to cover with TransTape because there's so much extra prosthetic skin at the top.

The extra two inches in the XL roll will completely take away my need for an additional strip with this STP.

I love saving tape and convenience.

  1. Tucking

And if you tuck with TransTape, this can be a major help to you as well!

The wider strips will allow more area to be covered with one piece and you'll likely feel much more secure with wider strips.

And depending on your method, you might even end up saving some tape in the process by cutting the pieces in halves or thirds!

Similar to binding, having a little extra width on the tape can help you feel more secure and comfortable on the daily.

TransTape can also be used for lifting! We've talked a lot about binding to give a "flatness" to the chest, but TransTape is capable of doing the complete opposite too. Isn't it so cool when a single product has multiple benefits and uses?

And let's be real, who doesn't need a little extra security and comfort right now

User Programs

TransTape has a few different programs to help you earn a little extra cash on the side!

Or even get help with funding your top surgery!

Let's start with that one! If you are seeking some financial assistance for top surgery, TransTape might be able to help you out.

There's just a few qualifications you gotta meet before you apply!

  1. TransTape Top Surgery Recipient Fund Requirements

  1. You are an active TransTape user.

  2. Your surgery has a scheduled date and is within the next 6 months.

  3. You have an existing crowdfunding campaign.

  4. You consent and are comfortable with your posted photos, videos, and handles to be marketed by TransTape.

If you meet all of those requirements, fill out the application here!

If you are selected after applying, TransTape will promote you for a month on their social media platforms with a code.

When people use the code, their savings will go towards your surgery fund and TransTape will match it!

Pretty damn cool!

  1. Artist Merch

The newest thing TransTape has going on is the artist merch program!

Recently, TransTape began working with a handful of queer artists as another way to give back.

Which is so awesome.

If you're a queer artist, TransTape's merch is definitely meant for you to design. And meant for us to purcha se so we can help support you and your art.

For every t-shirt designed by an artist that is purchased, $15 will go directly to the artist who designed it!

Support some queer artists here!

If you're someone who loves cool, funky designs and supporting queer artists, you've officially found your new favorite place for t-shirts.

  1. Remote Model Program

Would you consider yourself photogenic?

I sure would, look at you! You're gorgeous!

TransTape is always looking for models like you.

If you're an active TransTape user and are comfortable with your photos and videos being used for marketing, apply here to the remote model program!

If you're accepted into the program, you'll be able to send in photos and videos of you wearing and using TransTape.

And be compensated for anything selected and used!

Payouts are weekly and this can be a great way to earn some extra cash on the side. Apply now!

Donations and Education

Last, but surely not least, TransTape loves to donate and educate!

Are you an organization who gives back to their community? Does your community love TransTape? Reach out to the help desk and join the list!

TransTape sends out huge donation boxes full of tape, manuals, removal oil and salve, to groups and organizations! That way, these organizations are able to supply their local communities with gender affirming gear without spending a dime. This is incredible!

On top of free donation boxes, TransTape also sponsors events!

If you or your group are part of a festival or another type of event, you can also get a donation box sent out at no cost to you.

Yes, this especially includes drag shows!

Are you in love with TransTape yet? I know you are, but let me hit you with one last thing.

Free TransTape Education!

TransTape's Education and Outreach Coordinator Quyen Tran travels all around the country providing free work-shops for schools and organizations.

Could it get any better?

Yes!

These workshops aren't just a quick slideshow with photos, either. They include step by step guidance on how to apply TransTape in the best way possible for your body.

And as long as you're 18+, Quyen will even help apply it 1-on-1!

This provides a safe space for learning as well as a space where people of the same community can come together and familiarize themselves with alternative gender affirming care.

People also have the opportunity to meet other people interested in the same thing or who are having the same problem! Or both!

And at schools, the faculty and staff are also more than welcome to attend so they can better understand and help their students.

Free education is free love, in my opinion.

Well, What Do You Say?

Hopefully you've learned something new today, or at least had a good refresher on why you should continue purchasing your gender affirming products from TransTape. Because, well, we're the best around.

Between being created by a trans person, listening to the needs of customers, giving back to the community and educating others, there's a lot to love about TransTape.

I've been a loyal user for at least 6 years now, and I've never considered going back to binders and harnesses, not once. I threw my binder out the first month of using TransTape!

You might be thinking, "Oh, sure, the guy writing this blog for TransTape wants me to buy TransTape instead of any other brand."

You'd be right that I'm the guy writing this blog, but feel free to take my word when I say that I wouldn't consider writing blogs for a product I didn't fully support.

But you don't have to just listen to me and my humble opinion, because I've presented you with information that will allow you to make your own judgement about TransTape as a company and a product.

With that said, I will leave you with this.

Find something that brings you joy today.

Until next time,

Stay awesome,

Stay beautiful,

Stay you.

You are loved and it gets better.

Talk to you soon,

Jamie
